The Freshman Team, aka the ninth grade faculty at Morris Academy, is dedicated to the concepts of team teaching and forging interdisciplinary connections that make sense to students. Here, the often isolated studies of History, Math, Science and English are brought together to form a single curricula designed to help our first-year students better understand the subject matter they are learning and how it applies to the larger world around them.
By way of example, a shared month-long Living Environment / ELA unit student saw students apply their knowledge and understanding of Charles Darwin's work to a creative writing project which resulted in students producing original children's books on evolution and natural selection. More text....
