A thoughtful, analytical approach toward decision-making holds the key not only to one's financial well-being and long-term career prospects, but indirectly affects one's overall health & happiness. Trying to communicate this “philosophy of life” to my students and encouraging the consequent behaviors and characteristics is my fundamental objective.
Successful decision-makers are resourceful problem-solvers. They seek out information to help solve problems and making use of what they already know. If one approach fails, they reconsider the problem and look at it from a different perspective. Facilitating this understanding with my students is integral to my pedagogical approach.
The current course is designed to improve students' financial literacy skills - to help them explore and understand how statistical information, data analysis and decision-support tools are used in the business world, specifically in the financial services sector. My goal is to enable students to integrate this knowledge into their daily lives as they prepare to leave high school and begin making financial decisions that impacts their future.
